Program Description

Designed to meet the needs of the combined Master of Science degree and Sam Houston Dietetic Internship Program, this plan of study combines the master's degree requirements with nine hours of practicum in area preceptor sites and a 12-hour minor in one of the following: business, education (counseling), psychology (counseling), or health. The comprehensive examination must be taken in the major and the minor. Students must be enrolled in the University the semester or summer session in which the comprehensive exam is administered. A thesis is not part of the program. The Sam Houston Dietetic Internship Program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, 120 South Riverside Plaza, Suite 2000, Chicago, IL 60606-6995. Admissions

Students seeking admission to the graduate program in Dietetics and dietetic internship must complete the following requirements and submit all documents to the Office of Graduate Admissions:

  1. Graduate Application
  2. Application fee
  3. Official transcript from baccalaureate granting institution, including the transcript that shows the date the undergraduate degree was conferred
  4. Official GRE scores
  5. Two letters of recommendation that discuss the applicant's suitability for graduate study
  6. Completed DICAS (Dietetic Internship Centralized Application Service) application and fee
  7. Dietetic internship application fee (to DI Director)
  8. Participate in D&D Digital Systems
  9. Verification of completion from an accredited DPD program.

A holistic review of each student's application file will be completed on a competitive basis.
